USDA EQIP Program.
Blue Jaye Farm is proud to be selected from the USDA to implement a “High Tunnel” project. The USDA and the Natural Resource and Conservation Service (NRCS) are co-sponsoring the Farm in constructing a Large Greenhouse. We will be planting vegetables in this greenhouse directly in the ground. These Vegetables will be harvested to sell at our Farmers’ Markets this summer.
This study will show the benefits of raising produce in a “High Tunnel” type of Greenhouse. We will be monitoring the effects of growing this way to see if less pesticides, herbicides etc. will be used compared to conventional growing in fields and also the quantity and quality of produce grown. Also the environmental impact the greenhouse will have as well.
Our goal in this trial will be to grow healthy, tasty produce without the need to use chemicals and bring these products to Market.
